1. Our Mission
Our mission at Camp Shannon daycamp is the same: Through the transforming experience of outdoor camping – rich in bonding friendships, physical activity, and fun – YMCA Camp Mason will lead youth, families, and community to an awareness of our core traditions of environmental stewardship, spirituality, and respect for our fellow man.

We strive everyday to recognize and appreciate the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We encourage behaviors that benefit the entire community of camp.

We structure each day so as to incorporate healthy physical activity and a focus on teamwork, as well as time for individual creative expression.

We create programs that develop a greater understanding and appreciation for the earth and all it’s life.

5. Extended Care

Extensions to the daily program are available for a nominal fee. Extended care tends to consist of low-key activities such as arts and crafts, stories, playground time, and extra swim time.

AM: Drop off is between 7:30 and 8:00am! Please do not plan a morning drop off outside of these hours.

At 8:05 all campers and staff will go to the main dining hall to eat a hot breakfast.

PM: Pick up time extends from the end of the daily program at 4:00pm, until 5:30pm. Please do not plan an afternoon pick up outside of these hours!

Extended care must be signed up for in advance. There are no fee adjustments. IE-the cost for extended care is the same regardless of how many days or how many minutes per day, it is actually used.

6. Facilities
There is an area near the entrance of Camp Mason set aside exclusively for day camp use. It includes private storage changing areas, tent activity shelters, modern portable restrooms, drop off and pick up zones, and natural play areas.

During first, second, and third activities, campers will utilize the remaining 600 acres of Camp Mason, joining our resident campers in designated activity areas.

7. Adventure Week

August 21 - August 25 is the only one week session being offered. It is an additional session at the end of the summer to help working parents bridge the gap until school starts. This will be a unique experience for day campers in that this session involves: rock climbing, river canoe trips, wilderness exploration, outdoor cooking and other unique adventure trips and activities!

8. Lunches

Camper lunches that are brought each day will be stored in a cooler. Hot lunches are available for a nominal fee, served buffet style in our main dining hall.

9. Health & Safety
The well being of our campers is our top priority. All staff are carefully screened and professionally trained prior to working with the campers. Our aquatics and target sports instructors are trained by nationally recognized organizations. We have licensed advance medical personnel on site at all times.

We rely on positive reinforcement and redirection for behavior issues and will involve parents if behavior becomes a detriment to others or the program as a whole.
