Winter is finally here.

It’s brisk here in New Jersey. The leaves have fallen off even the most stubborn trees and the ground crackles with frost during my morning walks with Pablo. There’s no doubt that the camp is settling in for a long winter’s sleep, but the office is busier than ever! Here’s what there is to look forward to in the months ahead as we prepare for the summer of 2009 at Camp Mason:

- Winter Camp (formerly Winter Reunion) will take place February 13-16, 2009. Tuition is $215/camper for 3 nights and 4 days of winter fun. Winter Camp is open to all Mason campers and new campers, too! It’s the perfect opportunity to share camp with a friend and get excited about the coming summer. Visit the website for details. Contact Don or April with questions.

- Our early-bird registration discount has been extended to December 31, 2008. Register with a deposit before then and receive 2008 tuition rates. This is a great deal and represents a $200 savings for 4-week campers and a $50 savings for 2-week campers. Call the office for more information.

- New in 2009: Starter Program! First-time campers in grades 2-5 can attend a 1-week starter session at Camp Mason.
Dates: 6/28-7/4 and 7/5-7/11
Tuition: $700

Visit the website or call April in the office for more information.

- The new LT and CIT programs are starting to fill – don’t miss this chance to join our brand-new leadership programs! Visit the website for more information.

- Watch for announcements about upcoming Reunion Gatherings in Princeton and Metuchen, as well as slideshow home visits throughout the state – everyone’s welcome at the slideshows!

I can’t wait for next summer – it’s only 219 days away! Tell a friend about Camp Mason, drop me a line if you have any questions, and let’s get ready for the best summer ever!

Don Jennings - Camp Director.

Camp Mason's Family Camp Weekends

Did you know that Camp Mason offers family camp weekends? In our busy, modern lives we all seem to have far too many distractions that pull us away from the things that really matter. We say family foremost! Quality time with the family when you can all be together seems harder and harder to find. But, the YMCA has a solution - a tradition that spans seven decades. Family Camp!!!

Our program is designed to be a fun-for-the-whole-family weekend of things to do, indoors and out. Do as much or as little as you like. Relax at camp, or hit the trail! Throughout the weekend we will be offering various camp activities you can enjoy as a group - or divide up for a time so each can sample the activity they most enjoy. Some activities are self directed while others are supervised by our helpful, caring staff. The weekend also includes planned group events. Evening programs include exciting presenters, treasure hunts, and a traditional campfire complete with s’mores

Camp Mason is so much more....

Camp Mason is more than just summer camp!! As well as summer camp here at YMCA Camp Mason we have many other exciting programs on offer throughout the year. Our Outdoor Center operates all year, offering environmental and adventure education programs to school and community groups of between 15 and 400 people. We host a range of programs from 6th grade science trips to high school peer leadership programs, from Girl Scout Campouts to Teen Institute Conferences.

We also offer family camp weekends throughout the year providing an opportunity for families to spend some quality time together away from the pressures and distractions of everyday life. The program allows you to do as much or as little as you like – hang out in the cabin or hike on the Appalachian Trail, try you hand at archery or take out a canoe on Meadow Lake. Three delicious meals are served everyday by the professional food service staff. There is always plenty to eat and plenty of selection so no one will be hungry!

If you are interested in any receiving more information about our family camps or our outdoor education programs please contact our Outdoor Center Director at alisonf@campmason.org
